Modern kitchen appliances

Minimalism: Clean lines and large, open workspaces will remain popular in 2022, as the class and sophistication of European design continues to influence design trends.

While open shelving was popular in 2020, we predict a move towards hiding appliances and dishes behind cleverly constructed cabinet doors. The use of vertical lift hinges makes this easy and gives a fresh, clean look to cabinetry.

Cooking with gas

Those passionate about cooking, know that cooking with gas will never go out of fashion. After several years’ focusing on induction cooktops in kitchens, we predict 2022 will see a move back to the versatile and functional use of gas in new and renovated kitchens. With instant temperature control and the aesthetics of the gas cooktop being a focus of appliance designers, as can be seen in many of the latest new gas cook top and oven designs, cooking with gas has never been as rewarding – especially when the room you are cooking in oozes modern glamour.

Natural Wood

Including natural wood adds depth and interest to your kitchen. Wood adds warmth and a connection to the natural world. From reclaimed wood countertops to cabinet doors that look-alike wood, you can use the wood grain effect in many ways. The beauty of wood is that it comes in a wide variety of colours, making it easy to match the style of your home.

Statement pendant lights will remain a staple kitchen trend in 2022. From bold glass and metal to organic rattan designs, your lighting choices should match the personality and style of your home. Make sure they are hung at the correct height for maximum impact and have them installed by a professional electrician.

Kitchen Paint 2022

While white is still a classic colour for kitchens and is unlikely to ever go out of fashion, there has been a shift towards adding bold pops of colour. Dark blue and even black kitchens are growing in popularity, while we predict the primary colour for 2022 will be sage green – a green with a natural grey tone for a sense of calm and an appeal to nature. These colours go particularly well with wood and stone textures. Creating a mood board is an excellent way to see how the colours you choose will go together.
